About Alongside
“By journeying alongside gospel workers, Alongside assists them to meet every moment of life and ministry from a place of gospel clarity.”
Alongside exists to support faithful gospel work and witness. Driven by a belief that ministry is most sustainable and fruitful when shaped by godly character and grounded in biblical truth, Alongside aims to support gospel workers to serve with clarity, conviction, and joy.
Our aim is to provide a space for Christian workers to pause, reflect, and grow in faithfulness to Christ in their calling. Whether you’re in a church, school, or parachurch setting, Alongside understands your context is uniquely complex and challenging. Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you do, Alongside can help you to continue serving with integrity and perseverance.
While Alongside’s primary focus is those in vocational ministry, we also welcome anyone, from any field, who wants to grow in their practice through regular reflection.
Phil Coghlan
I bring a background in Primary and Secondary Education, along with over thirteen years in full-time gospel ministry. I’m convinced that thoughtful, prayerful reflection on one’s life and ministry can sharpen gospel clarity, increase resilience, and help ministers serve with renewed joy and focus—for the good of those they serve, their church, and the cause of Christ.
I continue to serve the wider church as a coach, mentor, visiting preacher, service leader, funeral celebrant, and trainer. Having ministered for many years in rural and regional contexts (in the Anglican Dioceses of Armidale and Tasmania) I understand the challenges and isolation that often come with ministry, especially for solo pastors.
I also have many years of experience leading and working in ministry teams and know both the joys and challenges that come with multi-staff churches. In addition to my Music, Education and Theological degrees, I have also a undertaken various specialised training in Pastoral Supervision, Leadership, Coaching, Ministry, Preaching and Church Planting. Utilising these training opportunities to help others grow is a significant motivation for starting up Alongside.
My goal is to come alongside gospel workers as a trusted partner in ministry—whether as a supervisor, coach, preacher, or simply someone to help you think things through. In all I do, I aim to help people reflect on their practice and persevere in faithful service to Christ.
If that would be helpful to you, feel free to get in touch.
